I am so inspired by the recent outside painting session! The heather fields near my house are blossoming right now!
We are living in a region of the old forest which is rare thing in Europe especially in the Netherlands. Old huge pines, oaks, beeches are preserved here and look really impressive.
And of course a heather fields between these forests in August with their purple lilac color, all the time different and always lovely!
I use gouache paints for painting outside sessions along with oil and watercolor. Gouache has unique matte texture because it is made of clay. Oil paint has glance surface and is textured with thick strokes of paint. Gouache is flat and matte. It has warmth as you look at it. It needs to be framed as it is painted on paper.
Oil is more serious and durable material. Therefore it is more expensive. Usually oil is used with stretched canvases, sometimes with wooden panel or cardboard.
The heather field, pine forest cyclists, grass and all this nature are so beautiful in the autumn. I am so happy with my artworks created in this sunny day.

If you would like these sketches in oil they can easily be put into oils because the pigments are almost the same. Please contact me in form below to discuss the size, price and other details.
