Dear friends. I am a professional artist Julia Grechkina.

I live in the Netherlands and paint European landscapes and cityscapes, capturing places I’ve visited and sometimes those I dream of seeing. I also create custom paintings for clients who want to immortalize their travels. They often send me photos, and I bring their memories to life on canvas.

One of my favorite commissions is from people who’ve moved away from their homeland, asking me to paint places from where they were born. I relate to this deeply, having moved from my own home country. While I love living in the Netherlands, no matter what happens, you can’t help but miss where you come from.

I once painted a semi-abstract view of Paris, and a woman bought it because she recognized every building in the cityscape. Though the painting wasn’t entirely realistic, I had included a few key landmarks to keep a sense of familiarity. It was heartwarming to see how much she appreciated that. It made me reflect on my own childhood, and though my hometown isn’t as iconic as Paris, I might just create something for myself someday.
